Mission

The mission of the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is to protect the life and property of individuals in the county while maintaining traditional sheriff’s services and providing primary and support services upon request. The ability to complete this mission relies on mutual respect and responsibility as shared by the office, county and municipal agencies, citizens it serves and the members it employs. It is of paramount importance that the members of this office secure the confidence, respect and approval of the public and that quest begins with the recruitment of personnel. A professional responsibility no less grave than that of other administrators of the law is imposed upon members and employees of this office. Professionalization of law enforcement is gaining general recognition, but it can win universal acclaim and permanent status only if the actions of the profession embody the highest attributes of every other profession. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office is an equal opportunity employer continually seeking highly professional and well-disciplined individuals for employment without regard to race, creed, color, national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, affectional or sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or sex.
